The history of Islam, nonetheless is endowed with a unique phenomena, popularly known as Sufi thought. This Tareeqat (discipline) exudes the message of love and compassion for fellow humans regardless of their faiths, color and creed. It fosters understanding and trust between people hailing from diverse backgrounds, and geography: it is common platform from which the Aouleya spread their message. It has produced Saints such as Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ghareeb Nawaz (RA), Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz (RA),Hazrat Baba Fareed Gange Shakar Zohud ul Ambiya, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Mehboob e Ilahi (RA), Hazrat Shams Tabraiz (RA). These Saints were able to attract the attention of not just Muslims, but Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and people of other faiths who have respected and revered them throughout the course of history to this day. The recent tragedy at the Dargah of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz compels us to celebrate him, his life and his worldview as a counter measure of light against darkness.
